About us

The Mountain Trike began as a university engineering project to give wheelchair users a new kind of wheelchair that would allow them to enjoy the outdoors as much as we do, but has quickly become something so much bigger.

Over the years of development, prototyping and playing we have come to into contact with some of the nicest, most inspiring people you could imagine. It has lifted us out of many a low moment and made the work we do a real pleasure.

What we have here is a start, we have been able to go some way in giving people the freedom and independence they once had and have every intention of doing more...

Meet the team

Tim Morgan

Tim is the original inventor and a keen mountain biker who wanted to design a wheelchair that would allow the user to share his love of the great outdoors. Tim received a first class degree in a Masters of Engineering at University of Bath and was a design engineer with one of the world’s most prestigious car manufacturers before working on the Mountain Trike full time.

Ed Elias

An engineering friend of Tim's from university, he received a Masters in Manufacturing Engineering and provides some commercial experience to the team. He has also recently finished a PhD in User-Centred Design and has been involved with and founded a number of other start-up companies.

Johnny Wardle

A long time friend of both Tim and Ed and another a engineering masters graduate from the University of Bath. Johnny is helping with development and design work but is currently working full time as a design engineer for a large diesel engine company. Johnny has also in the past worked on projects as wide ranging as a human powered submarine. We look forward to the day when Johnny can join us full time!

Geoff Berrisford

Our engineering and manufacturing genius, Geoff, with enormous experience in precision engineering and motorsport, turns our drawings and scribbles into something beautiful and then helps us make them even better.

Lucy Hill

The most recent addition to our team, Lucy has made herself invaluable to the running of the company and has great experience in sales, marketing and just getting things done!

Please help us be even better.

If you experience joys or problems, highs or lows, please let us know! We’d like to be able to spread the joy and solve the problems.

A growing Mountain Trike community of inspirational people is spreading round the world. If you see a fellow rider, do say hello! You’re part of this community now too.
